This new 8-cup coffee maker adds an entirely new chapter to the French press success story. The borosilicate double wall glass of the BEAN coffee maker is encased in colorful plastic, protecting the glass beautifully. It also makes the BEAN completely spill-proof and safe, in case it gets knocked over. The silicone gasket connecting the lid and the glass adds to the insulating effect of the double wall glass helping maintain the heat of the coffee even longer. The simple push of a lever lets the coffee flow into the cup – all easily manageable with one hand.
The key to brewing great coffee is allowing adequate time. French press coffee is ideally served once it has been left to sit for four minutes. After pouring in the hot water, stir the coffee grounds and flip over this classic sand timer. The sand will run out at exactly at the four minute mark, which signals that your coffee is ready for pressing!
Now more than ever the BODUM® French press system is THE way of brewing coffee. It's pure and simple, which is exactly the reason why coffee tasters use this method to determine the quality of coffee beans. The materials of the French press (glass and stainless steel) are completely taste-free so nothing comes between your ground coffee beans and the hot water. The French press literally generates no waste at all: no metal or plastic capsules, no paper, no nothing. You only boil as much water as you need and there you go. We all know plastic water bottles are an environmental problem, but have you thought about all those metal or plastic capsules left by other coffee machines? They generate more waste than espresso. With the BODUM® French press it's just glass, water and coffee brewing doesn't get any purer.
The Brazil French Press coffee maker, designed in the early 80's, was our first coffee maker and quickly became a symbol of what Bodum stands for. Attractive and functional design at an affordable price! The Brazil has a heat resistant, borosilicate glass beaker (the standard for all Bodum French press plungers) and a polypropylene handle and base, which make the Brazil easy to use and easy to clean. The domed lid is made of a smooth polypropylene and has the special Bodum safety and aroma seal to keep your coffee warm for a longer time. Brewing coffee in the Brazil is one of life's great pleasures.
The French press coffee maker is the simplest of all brewing systems, where coarsely ground beans meet hot water right off the boil. The right temperature (92-96°C - 195-205°F) brings the optimal extraction power for the essential oils in the beans to develop their full flavor profile in just four minutes. An easy press on the plunger locks the grinds at the bottom of the glass carafe and stops the brewing process.
Note: For the French press brewing method, BODUM® recommends a coarse grind.
The Caffettiera coffee maker incorporates the Bodum's motto beautifully: good design doesn't have to be expensive. Just hot water and ground coffee is all that's needed. And that's all that coffee lovers are left with too, no waste, just taste.
